How do you guys feel about the latest Daily Quest hubs? I’m sure a
substantial amount of my readers will find the new daily quest
areas to be pretty darn exciting. Blizzard sure went all the way
with this one, giving you over 60 of them to choose from, offering
you as much questing variety as possible.

In addition, you will also get to unlock new vendors with awesome
new items to get your hands on. Apparently a lot of the quests are
loads of fun to play so I suggest you give it a chance and not
write them off as a ‘grind’ just yet.

Blizzard will also release the brand new Firelands raid featuring
seven epic new bosses and a whole new tier of gear. Based on the
feedback I’ve received from the lucky devils who had a chance to
try the new instance on PTR, it looks like you will be spending a
lot of time mastering the new raid encounters in the race to unlock
better gear (we’re talking Tier 12 baby!) and hopefully getting
first dibs on Dragonwrath, the new legendary staff.

What if I told you that it is perfectly possible to play just a
couple of hours a week a week and still produce the results you
want? With Firelands just around the corner, wouldn’t it be sweet

and I’m grateful that you really went way out of your way to
make this ‘dummy proof’. Between the tutorials and the tools,

how to do it” Even a newbie can’t mess this one up if they tried
their hardest.

Anyways, my question for you is this. As a Hunter specializing
in Leatherworking and Herbalism (I also have toons with
Blacksmithing, Mining, Jewelcrafting and Alchemy lol) I would like
to know of any sure-fire methods to cash in some gold to fund
my raiding nights. I have enough gold to get by and sure, I
would love to get my hands on those expensive luxury items like
Orb of Deception but getting gold requires farming, and farming
requires time, and time is something I just don’t have.

Therefore if you have any profession-related gold-making tips
to toss my way I would be eternally grateful.

Hey there Ben!

There are simply so many things that gold can bring about when
considering PvE and it is not only about superficial purchases
like buying most expensive mounts or ‘status symbols’ like
Orb of Deception.

Whether it’s to buy flasks and potions that will improve your
performance in raids and help you get noticed by your guild
leaders, or whether it’s to buy that new BoE epic to
improve your gear, gold is used in and out for PvE purposes.

How many people do you know who use potions in raids? How many
people do you know pre-pot (potting before the encounter starts)
in raids? If you were able to use potions or these uses without
having the worry about gold, don’t you think you would have
a huge advantage over them? You would be obliterating the
damage meters in your raid without question!

Moving on to your question, since your Main is a Hunter
specializing in Leatherworking there is a couple of items you
should look out for in anticipation of the upcoming 4.2 Patch.

Coming up tops in my LW Stockpile list is none other than Pristine
Hide, which according to WoWHead will see 10 new Patterns/Recipes
which will require no less than 8 of these bad boys.

Start stockpiling these as you’re most definitely going to need
them when the new Patch comes out. For those who want to take
the cheaper and less riskier route, you can target raw leather
which can be converted into Pristine Hides. Overall, Leatherworking
is a great overall profession to make gold from, solely from
turning savage leather into Pristine Hides.

Another item to stockpile for the future patch are Chaos Orbs
because they are used for most recipes. Assuming you have a
leatherworker or blacksmith these should be at the top of your
list because with the exception of Living Embers these are used
for the most recipes. If you don’t have these professions
I would still stockpile some as I wouldn’t be surprised if
they become BOE in patch 4.2.

Great work on the guide, the sections are laid out very well and
the strategies in the guide are top-notch and easy to grasp. Now,
I’ve been raiding on my character for a while now and although it’s
been a TON of fun, my gold reserves have slowly but surely been
depleting.

I can’t be bothered to spend hours of time I do not have grinding
mobs or running Heroics for gold so any Auction House advice on
this would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Kirsten,

Im happy you like the guide and would like to thank you for your
support =)

As mentioned in my Gold Making Guide, Cataclysm Scalper, you should
not expect to make tons of gold overnight, especially if you are
spending so much time on PvE progression. Granted, the strategies I
provide will make you gold but you should be patient and not be too
greedy.

Nevertheless, if you are facing trouble making gold right now I
have a rather big gold making tip for patch 4.2 which DOES NOT
involve mindless farming or running Heroics. The magic word for
INSANE gold generation for Patch 4.2 is this – TRUEGOLD.
I was browsing around the forums the other day and couldn’t help
but notice a number of items that will require MASSIVE amounts of
Truegold in 4.2

There are a couple more items that require Truegold but the items
such as Brainsplitter, Unbreakable Guardian, Lightforged Elementium
Hammer, Extreme-Impact Hole Puncher and Pyrium Spellward (just to
name a few) will require a staggering EIGHT Truegold per item, so
if you’re on the lookout to make a killing in the AH in the near
future, start stockpiling this item NOW while demand is still
relatively low.

Once 4.2 hits you’ll see the demand for Truegold once again sky
rocket and it’s price will soar through the roof along with it.

Hey Dylan!

I just bought your guide and it’s amazing what a difference it’s
made to my game. I can feel the confidence building inside me! It’s
like having my own personal coach helping me heal through the
instances.

Moving on to my question for you.

My guild has been doing normal 10 mans for the past few weeks but
we finally have enough members to start doing 25 man content. Which
bosses should we be aiming to down first in 25 Mans and would you
progress in the same way as you did in the normal 10 man raids?

Hi Jay

From what I have seen 25 mans allow for a little more error than 10
mans do. In a 10 Man raid, everyone needs to be at the top of their
game whereas there will always be instances where slackers get
‘carried’ through 25 Man content. However, the drawback is you have
15 more people to organize and get into formation so there are more
chances for mistakes.

You will certainly encounter rough patches transitioning to raiding
on a bigger scale but you will reap the rewards if you stick to it,
especially if your raidmates are good and willing to learn.

In terms of boss progression, I recommend starting on Argaloth in
Baradin Hold as it is a pretty simple fight involving 2 phases.
This is also a great gear check for your raid.  If Argaloth
repeatedly enters the berserk phase and your raid is unable to take
him down without dying, it’s a good bet that some of the players
need to acquire more gear somehow to meet the requirements.

You could also get your hands dirty with Magmaw which is another
fairly straightforward fight assuming your raid is capable of
standing out of the fire and know how to switch targets efficiently.

Moving on to our Topic of The Day…

Every once in a while, someone posts something that generates a lot
of interest in the forums, resulting in a lot of heated discussion
around the same topic.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned in Cataclysm, nothing
generates more buzz than news regarding healers and healing
mechanics. One of the most significant changes from Patch 4.2 will
involve all healers, since it affects the critical strike of heals
across the board.

Dont know what Im talking about? Then take a look at this.

“All healing critical strikes now heal for 2 times a normal heal
(+100%), up from 1.5 times a normal heal (+50%)” – Taken from
Blizzard Forums

At first glance, this seems to be awesome news for healers all
around, especially for disc priests as we already get shields when
we crit. Expect to see your Discipline Priest tear the healing
meters apart when 4.2 finally hits.

However for the Holy Paladin, this buff won’t rock the boat too
much as your stat priorities will likely remain the same, for the
most part being :-

Intellect>Spirit>Haste>Crit/Mastery

Just wanted to drop you a quick note. I’ve been using the stellar
information in your Guide to learn the ins and outs of raiding. You
have given me a good start by explaining my class in an expert
fashion and through constant practice I finally managed to score a
raid spot in my first 25 Man raid and it’s all thanks to you!

Now my question is, as a Resto Druid I’ve been told that my class
is currently underpowered in comparison to the other healing
classes, especially Holy Paladins and Discipline Priests.

The good news is that Blizzard will be introducing a massive buff
to the Restoration Druid’s healing capabilities very very soon. I
just want your input on this and what the so-called ‘buff’ is.

Dear Dedicated Resto Druid,

Thanks so much for your wonderful comments, your feedback is much
appreciated!

As for your question, you are absolutely correct as patch 4.2 will
bring a significant change to druids since your Mastery has been
completely revamped and changed to something else.

That’s right, Symbiosis (Mastery) has been removed and replaced
with Harmony. Harmony increases direct healing by an additional
10%, and casting direct healing spells grants an additional 10%
bonus to periodic healing for 10 seconds. Each point of mastery
increases each bonus by an additional 1.25%. Healing Touch,
Nourish, Swiftmend, and the initial heal from Regrowth are
considered direct healing spells for the purposes of this Mastery.
All other healing from druid spells is considered periodic.

At first glance and without considerable playtesting, this looks to
be a very strong Mastery, as I understand that many druids were
unhappy with Symbiosis from the start and this new Mastery seems to
address many of the issues that players had with it, increasing the
effectiveness of both direct healing and their HoT’s.

Harmony will also grant a flat boost to the direct heals in a Resto
Druid’s arsenal – Swiftmend, Healing Touch, Regrowth and Nourish -
and assuming that you cast one of the abovementioned spells every
10 seconds – a boost to everything else too.

Now before you start jumping around in joy, please note that I
don’t expect the mastery bonus number to be final, but it certainly
is an extremely attractive secondary stat.

Now to the question, although I’m truly happy and grateful with the

trade. Note that time is a precious commodity for me right now and
I do not have much time to spend grinding mobs or running Heroics
for ‘in-demand’ BoE’s. Any easy and efficient gold-making tips from
you would be greatly appreciated since I know gold-making is also a

It warms my heart to see such positive feedback from my readers. It
really makes all the months of hard work and preparation I spent
putting together the guide worth the while.

Now onto your question – making gold should be something that comes
easily with minimum effort involved. Contrary to popular belief,
you are NOT required to spend hours upon hours on end being glued
to your computer screen to achieve your goals in WoW provided you
know exactly what you want and how to go about achieving it. In PvE
Formula I believe in teaching you strategies to you play the game
more intelligently, quickly and maybe most
important of all efficiently and this philosophy drives my entire
approach to the game, whether it be conquering all the end-game
content Blizzard has to offer,  or earning obscene amounts of gold
playing the Auction House.

All the major Gold Gurus know that stockpiling is the way to go if
you want to earn MASSIVE amounts of gold with minimum effort
involved.
In my opinion stockpiling is almost always worth it. However you
will need to take risks in order to reap the rewards. In order to
minimize the chance of losing on your investment, it is always
advisable to take a look at the economy in your respective realms.
What is selling and what isn’t? There are many opportunities to
make gold whenever a new Patch is on the horizon, and this is again
the case with the incoming Patch 4.2.

Luckily for you, I’ve gone ahead and done the heavy lifting and
identified this little gem of an item that is sure to hit skyhigh
prices once Patch 4.2 hits and it is none other than…. Flintlocke’s
Woodchucker.

An engineering Schematic, it is a recipe for a brand new ranged
weapon scope which attaches a permanent device to a bow or gun that
sometimes launches a rabid critter, dealing additional damage to
the target and increasing your Agility by 300 for 10 sec.

This is a great scope for Hunters and will be in HUGE DEMAND come
the new patch so my advice to you is to stock up on all the items
required to craft it, which are

1.     Pure Elementium
2.     Obsidian Ore
3.     Dream Emerald
4.     Various Volatiles (which will see a huge surge in demand, as
a required item for numerous other items from the incoming patch.
Stock these puppies up to the hilt, you will NOT REGRET it.)
